Serenity
Alas, I saw it. On opening night. let me just say that i am very happy that it did so well on opening weekend. number 2. awesome. hooray for joss whedon. as we all know: joss is boss. okay, now on to the important things. did i like it? of course. what isn't to like? the actors are all top rate and i already loved them from firefly. the action and effects were typically very good. The dialogue is awesome! it matches the hilarity of the show. i actually laughed through my tears many times. They showed us reavers! they were disturbing. just the way they moved. it was very well done in showing they were evil. (it also explains how reavers came to be. very cool.) All of the good things happen like couples get together, we figure out what exactly has been making river crazy, and mal FINALLY admits his feelings for Inara. The bad guy is very well played. he is slightly disturbing. the ending also left it open for a sequel. now to the bad news... i don't think i would care for a sequel. i cried for ten minutes in the middle of the movie and then for at least a solid half hour at the end and i couldn't stop crying after it ended. i was sniffling all the way home and had to watch firefly when i arrived home at 1 am to make me feel better. all i will say is that 2 people die. i was traumatized. i forgive joss. he had to do it to make the events monumental for the characters. it makes complete sense... it just isn't fun in that respect. despite this, i think i will be seeing it again this weekend and i highly recommend it to you all. I will buy it the second it comes out and add it to my library. i will watch it often. i will probably cry and certainly laugh. go out and support it. the future is worth fighting for. (cheesy, i know. it is just what the movie poster says.) The end is worth it. it is very fitting and cute and you leave the film with a good feeling. everyone did the right things and there are allusions to all of the best moments in firefly. i will close with this sentiment: "i am a leaf on the wind. watch me soar."
